Question:

What is a good escape from reality?

My life is wonderful, but there are a few facets of it that I find extremely difficult to deal with. I have high anxiety and always face my problems, but sometimes I just want to escape for a bit. I read when I can, but I have been through so many books it is wearing out. Writing is good for me, as is the Sims 2. Exercise, not so great, though I do it often.

Does anyone else have good ideas? I don't want to dream my life away. Just a temporary escape, if only for a few minutes, will do.

  1. Listen to music on your ipod and go for a walk or lie on your bed close your eyes and think youre in a club the hottest chick around grinding it with a hot guy. Lol always works for me

  2. Take up a brand new hobby (one you've never tried before)that suits your interests. Not only will you gain a temporary escape & enjoyment, you will gain new skills, some of them may even be skills you can implement in the solving of everyday problems, so they are not such a burden.

  3. movies, shopping, hanging out with friends, or drawing may help.

  4. I've found that reading really helps me.  For some reason, The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice really help me (Interview With A Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, etc.).  Also, I love books by Paulo Coelho, such as The Alchemist, Veronika Decides To Die, The Zahir, etc.

It can be difficult for me to really good into certain books as a way of getting away from life just for a little bit, but these books help me, and I can read them over and over again.

  5. Video Games, especially puzzle games that get you thinking takes up your thinking.

  6. It's not quite legal... At the moment at least.

  7. dance. theres nothing more liberating and freeing then just turning on a song and flowing with the music. im a dancer. have been since birth. whenever i need to just get away i bike to my studio and just dance. i love it. its helped so much sometimes i just starting crying im so happy.

also if your not a crazy person like me [i just realized how crazy i sound in that paragraph but w/e its how i am] get into art. painting is a WONDERFUL escape. you can make anything real with just a paper and pencil.

  8. Helping others instead of thinking of my own problems usually helps me. You come across a lot of different people with some very difficult problems. It really starts to make you think deeply about life after a while. For me, it's helped me to look more towards the bright side of things. Maybe this will help for you?

  9. You really are too young to have serious problems now. Enjoy your youth because it does not get better with age and increased responsiblities. For me nothing beats a cruise.
