Whenever I ask a question in the Old Fogies section, the oldies get to complaining about being called old. What do they want to be called? How about ancient, or over the hill, or antique, or prehistoric, or something else? What can I call the grumpies to stop them whining?

  1. Coffin dodgers?

And I do believe that you are an impertinent young whippersnapper.

  2. Matured, experienced, "nearly there", those who have seen it all.

  3. Coffin dodger, or senior citizen.

  4. Call them 'silver surfers' ..........they'll like that.  If they don't, then I don't think there's anything they'll like.

Wasn't it you the other day who was getting grief from them for saying 'old people' and I said that maybe you should say 'older people'.  Didn't they like that either?

  5. My mum n dad, they're both 73, call them selves recycled teenagers cos they're doing all the things they didn't have time to do whilst they were working. The other phrase they like is "silver surfers" as they see it as a bit of a cult thing I think.  I'm 32 and some people would call me old!  Just cos we all get older doesn't mean our minds grow old. My auntie who's about ten years older than my Mum once said to me "The mind still thinks its 21 it's just the body that's not willing. Don't want to think about that in too much detail but I know what she means.

  6. Experienced, Seasoned, Aged like a Fine Wine

  7. Coffin dodgers. Only joking! lol.

  8. older adults is the way they are referred to in hospital and in the care sector

  9. In London they're "Twirlies".  This is because when they try to get on a bus before their free pass allows they are told ,"It's too early".  (Twirlie)

    p.s. I'm one!

  10. wrinklies

  11. how about wise. That ways its a compliment

you could also try venerable, enwisened, vintage, classical, enduring, traditional, time-honoured, well established or immemorial.

maybe even getting on, grey-haired, expereinced, practicesed, skilled, vereran, centenarian and long-lived

  12. Try Ladies and Gentlemen. At least they've made it. Will you.?

  13. Recycled Teenagers

  14. grumpies, the living dead, antique, time worn, decrepid, stale, senile, vintage, out-of-date, fusty, dilapitated

  15. Grandpa , Grandma , or Granny

  16. You may refer to me as well-seasoned or exprienced, oh young one.  edit...Oh, oh, oh! I rembered another one  (please forgive this ancient crones memory, it ain't' what it used to be) Young at heart and still kicking a**

  17. Try "venerable".

Venerable will get you brownie points :o)

  18. One-foot in the grave!

  19. Senior.....elderly  ????

  20. mature

  21. call them wise because they have lived so long! lol

take care ;p (hope it works)

  22. Not quite there yet but heading that way. I couldn't care less what you called me on reaching oap status. However, you are doing yourself no favours by saying you posted a question in the 'Old Foggies' section.  All I can say is that unless fate intervenes that time of life will come to you quicker than you realise so why not try a bit of empathy?  One day you'll look back and think what a smart a@se you thought you were thinking up all these names for people of 'a certain age'.

  23. a codger...<^><...
