  1. Home treatment is usually all that is needed for a sore throat caused by a virus. These tips may help you feel better.

Gargle with warm salt water to help reduce swelling and relieve discomfort:

Gargle at least once each hour with 1tsp (5g) of salt dissolved in 8fl oz of warm water.

If you have postnasal drip, gargle often to prevent more throat irritation.

Prevent dehydration. Fluids may help thin secretions and soothe an irritated throat. Hot fluids, such as tea or soup, may help decrease throat irritation.

Use a vaporizer or cool air humidifier in your bedroom.

Warm or cool mist may help you feel more comfortable by soothing the swollen air passages. It may also relieve hoarseness. However, don't let your room become uncomfortably cold or very damp.

Use a shallow pan of water to provide moisture in the air through evaporation if you don't have a humidifier. Place the pan in a safe location where no one will trip on it or fall into it.

Do not smoke or use other tobacco products and avoid secondhand smoke. For more information, see the topic Quitting Tobacco Use.

If you suspect that problems with stomach acid may be causing your sore throat, see the topic Heartburn.

Consider taking nonprescription medicine for your symptoms.

    Use nonprescription throat lozenges.

Some nonprescription throat lozenges, such as Sucrets Maximum Strength or Spec-T, are safe and effective and have medicine (local anesthetic) that numbs the throat to soothe pain.

Regular cough drops may also help.

    Use a decongestant.

Decongestants make breathing easier by shrinking swollen mucous membranes in the nose, allowing air to pass through. They also help relieve a runny nose and postnasal drip, which can cause a sore throat.

Decongestants can be taken orally or used as decongestant nasal sprays. Oral decongestants (pills) are probably more effective and provide longer relief but may cause more side effects.

Do not give decongestants to a child younger than 2 unless your child’s doctor has told you to. If your child’s doctor tells you to give a medicine, be sure to follow what he or she tells you to do.

  2. Fisherman's Friends. Salt water gargle.

  6. First

Get a flashlight and look down your throat.

Is your throat red? Does it have white spots on it?

    Do you have fever?

if so, you likely have strep throat...Can be very serious! Get antibiotics or if you are well educated in natural therapies, then use something very strong like oil of oregano, or grapefruit seed extract

    Second

Find your tonsils on the left and right  Is one tonsil swollen on the side that hurts?  Does it have white spots on it?

    Do you have fever?

You likely have tonsillitis.  This can be either bacterial or viral.  Go to the doctor or else make tea of 2-3 cloves pressed garlic with honey and fresh lemon to taste.  (as good as you can get) and drink this 4-5 times per day.  Garlic is antibacterial and anti viral so it will help either way.

Also gargle with warm water and 1 tsp of salt frequently

    Sleep lots

    Third

If its just red and sore, just do that garlic/honey/lemon drink.  Trust me, your throat will start feeling better after one cup!

  7. what kind of tea have you tried?

You shouldn't try ice cream, it usually doesn't work.

You could boil some water, add some salt to it so it tastes salty, wait for it to cool down a bit, gurgle it then swallow.

If it still gets worse, you might want to see your doctor.

  8. gargle with warm salt water

  9. try gargling warm salt water but if it is really that bad you should see a doctor.

  10. anything that's thick really. i used to drink lots of eggnog when i had a sore throat but a milk shake or anything really thick helps. honey would be good too.

  11. Gargle with salt water

  12. You can rub under the throat where the glands are located. It will release some of the build up in the glands. Then swish with hydrogen proxide and spit out (do not swallow).

  13. meth

  14. i ALWAYS get bad sore throats! i drink a tea called Throat Coat. its made by Traditional Medicinals. I get it at Dillons. heres the website on the box... www.TraditionalMedicinals.com

anyway i drink that with honey in it about 4 times a day. then i get the cherry Halls with the medicine center and take those like 3 times/hr.

This usually takes away most of the soreness in a day or two.

i use the chloriseptic spray too when the pain is unbearable! if the chloreseptic doesnt work, sometimes i rub Kanka (the liquid stuff for kankersores)on my throat where it hurts. it feels funny but it works!

If ur throat is hurting only on one side, its probably because u have an earinfection on that side and ur ear is draining and irritating ur throat. Lay on a heating pad for a while and that loosens the junk up in ur ear!!

i hope this helps!!! Good Luck!

  15. sprite or 7 up

  16. Good ol' honey and lemon will clear it right up within a day or two

  17. As per the modalities"aggravation  "Heat of the Room, of weather, HOT DRINKS, bath, bed, touch even of hair, pressure, after sleep, lying down, suppressed eruption" Better cool, motion, sitting erect" Apis Mellifica 30 would suit you.  The throat will be fiery red.  And there would be otitis media.

Above is an information.  Consult a doctor before administering medicines.
