What is a good excuse to take off work/?

I need a good excuse to take off work for a day to go to a different job interview and also the excuse needs to work again if i go back for a second interview possibly in the same week/

  1. Best excuse is HONESTY! It is only fair that your current employer knows your intention and you will probably need a good testimony to secure the other job. By doing so, 2 things could happen : 1. your current employer realises that you are too good to let go and offer you something better, 2. get an internal transfer where you can be happier, 3. a good support to your new job.


  2. I needed to do the same thing a few months ago.  I simply told my boss I needed the day off for personal reasons, it worked for me.

  3. If you have vacation days, take them.  Otherwise, usually companies have "no fault" days that you can take off, without specifying a reason.  In the worst case, take a day off without pay.

    The last thing you want to do is to make up a reason like sick, dentist, etc.  It's not only dishonest, it could come back to haunt you./
