  1. A ring-tailed cat, it's not really a cat, they are in the raccoon family (really adorable), but you must have a license to keep them inside city limits. Most hunt on their own, insects, mice, fruit. They are sort of rare though, might have trouble finding one.

A corn snake is a good idea too, though. I have one, her name is Checkers, they are really nice, and easily tamed. Not aggressive at all.

  2. I keep telling everyone who asks this question the same thing:

Get yourself a corn snake.  They're calm, sweet, polite, and even like to give kisses (mine does anyway).  They're non-poisonous, non-venomous, non-aggressive.  Ours has NEVER bitten.

They make AWESOME pets and I wouldn't give mine up for anything.

This is coming from a woman who HATED snakes;  wouldn't go near them with a ten foot pole!

Then I met Candycorn (my husband's corn snake) and I fell in slitherbaby love!   She's a great pet.

    Good luck.

  3. I reccomend a ferret. They are curious and sweet animals, and are pretty cool to own. They need quality ferret food, a spacious multi-level cage, toys, the occasional bath, vet visits, care, and patience. There is a ton of stuff out there to learn about ferrets, so here are some links to get you started:

Also, the book "Ferrets for Dummies" is a very good reference about ferrets. Check it out from your local library or buy it to keep as a guide.
