ugly stick has come a long way, they used to have a bad rap and the warranty was impossible... now they have a quality rod from ultralight to my surf rod... good stuff...

Best rod for the money... some people want the status of a brand name and some want the best bang for the buck. (me)...

The ugly stick is a good choice because it's one tough rod, but the okuma is also a good rod & reel combo and reasonably priced.

i love the berkley ultralight graphite rod and infinity are good rods to.also i will occcasolly use ugly stick cuse it is flexibe, one of the most sensitive rods and is usually low priice.

For the price I'd have ta' go with Shakespeare's Ugly Stik. If ya' go that route, suggest their new "Spinning Lite" series (link). It's a better made rod than the originals (personal opinion). MS's has one and would not part with it for nothin' ;). I've tried ta' convince her on a G. Loomis but, she won't hear of it. Good luck and "Fish On" ;)...

Note: Might add that these can be had at just about any Walmart facility. I don't patronize the place but, I've been told buy a friend that their's is the better price ~ plus one doesn't have to pay the D _ _ n Shippin & Handelin' if ordered Online! Hope this helps...

I like the ugly stick. It is in my opinion the strongest, and is very easy to use
