  1. any rod is good enough...line size should be any where from 10 to 20 lbs....i use a 6'6" ugly stick with 12 lb test....and i see people with heavy duty rods out there and they use it for macks also....

  2. use a 8foot rod that is flexible,10pound test is more than enough a reliable reel.king mac is not very strong when it fights just lots of wiggling n jumping.the front line should have some protection from its teeth bout a foot

  3. when i fish kings off piers i use a 8 to 10 foot spinning rod with a heavy action reel with 25 pound test. An other good idea is to go to that pier the day  before you go fishing and see what kind of tack they are using and get some thing like that.

out of curiosity, is it the Juno pier??

  4. A 10+ foot surfcaster will work great. And also out of curiosity, is it the pier in ft myers beach, fl?

  5. 8 foot surf rod
