  1. If at the tender age of 14 you don't have the resources for a personal trainer then think about your role on the field. To be honest you have to be everywhere on the field. It is your job to follow the ball to every breakdown and provide quality ball to your number 10 and the backs. The only way to deliver consistently quality ball is to have a level head and be focused at every ruck and maul where you need to get a pass away. The only way to maintain your concentration and a quality pass over 80 minutes of footy is to be as fit as you can. This may entail a lot of hitting the streets, strapping on your running shoes and running a mile or so every morning. Do it with a mate for extra competition and company. If that's boring (as I know it is), play football (soccer) in the off-season to get your cardio up. Mix it up and never stay with just running 'cos it gets boring but use it as a good base. Any activity that gets your heart rate up continuously over a long period will be good for your role on the field. Also, practice screaming and giving orders. You're the general out there man, getting those fat, lazy forwards around the park. Yelling can be quite tiring in itself.

  2. get yourself a personal trainer and he will sort you out with a programme that is perfect for you
