Question:

What is a good flashlight to take camping?

I was looking at MAG lights but the sizes that give off a good amount of light are just too big, bulky and weigh too much.

Does anyone know of any light, durable and powerful flashlights?

Thanks.

  1. besides my gas powered light i bring 3 battery powered lights a mini mag, a head light, and a C size 2 cell  mag light. they are smaller than the D cell lights and still are nice and bright.

  2. I really like maglights for camping, but I am a car camper so weight doesn't matter much to me.  Otherwise the only other flashlights I've owned have been plastic and while I'm sure they'd do the trick I don't think I'd consider them durable enough for the outdoors.

  3. Maglites are too heavy for backpacking. You want something light. Something that holds AA batteries, either 2 or 4 is good, made of plastic, maybe waterproof or resistant, halogen bulbs are old, LED flashlights are the best thing because the bulbs don't burn out or break. Princeton Tec makes some good lights, but even a Walmart light with these specs is good enough.

  4. one that cranks up for power, or a shaker type,

theres no stores in the woods.

  5. the shaker ones work great and then anyone that has a good

amount of power with fresh batteries.

  6. One that works. Ha Ha. No seriousley, I use either a mini mag or one of the things you put on your head. I have both and use both depending on the occasion.
