Question:

What is a good floor cleaner?

I am considering purchasing a floor cleaner for quick, light cleaning (like, for wiping up the kitchen/bathroom floor every couple of days). I was thinking about getting the Mr.Clean Mop, but it has bad reviews. With all the new products, it's kind of confusing. Any suggestions? (I am not looking for a mop/bucket type for scrubbing, just a product with disposable cleaning cloths or something like that, for a quick wipe)

  1. I like the Swiffer Wet Jet, but I don't buy their refills. You can use a serrated knife to cut along the band on the cap of the bottle that it comes with - then it screws off and on with no problem - and refill it with whatever floats your boat.

Personally I use either Fabuloso (this stuff lasts forever because it's so concentrated and it smells nice) or if it's being used in the room my birds live in, I use a mixture of vinegar, water and a small amount of dish soap (about 40% vinegar, 10% soap, 50% water), and that does not leave a fragrance that can hurt my birds.

The only real complaint I have about the Swiffer products is the "disposable" items that are expensive and not environmentally friendly to constantly purchase and throw away.

As for the pads for them, I don't buy those either - I bought a couple of microfiber mop heads at Home Depot (about 7 bucks each) and cut them in half so they fit just about perfect on the Swiffer mop (they velcro to it just like the pads that Swiffer sells) and they work great - toss them in the laundry afterwards, and voila! Earth friendly!

    Good luck. ;)

  2. Swiffer products! Outstanding. Will never go back to mop.
