Our percussion teacher has been teaching for a long time, and we really want to get him something special to say thank you for all the hard work he has put into our percussion ensemble. What would be a nice gift that is not too expensive but not too cheap? Or do you have any ideas on things we could make? This is really important!!

  1. a set of earphones and a packet of panadol

  2. Someone above suggested getting a group picture taken, and framed.  That's a GREAT idea.  If you want a little extra touch, get a little plaque on the frame that says "Percussion Ensemble, 2008" or something.  He'll love it.

Those kinds of gifts are much, much more meaningful than the 8 pairs of tacky glow-in-the-dark drumsticks that he probably already has...  :-)

  3. A big bottle of Jamiesons Irish whiskey(beautifully wrapped) and a fabulous bunch of flowers.

  4. A couple of ideas:

    1) I like the idea of the photo - I have one from my economic class

    2) how about a CD of the students playing a song for him (either one you write or any song that means something to you all) - you could design the CD cover etc.

    3) drum sticks that you have all signed

    4) tickets to see a band etc that he/she likes

    5) nominate him/her for a teaching award

    6) just say thanks in a letter explain why what he/she has done is so special (we teachers value these messages)

    I hope this helps.

  5. Have a group photograph taken, put it into a nice frame, then get everyone to sign the frame and maybe a short message of appreciation from you all.
