I'd like to get an interactive one, but there are many different kinds. The Leapfrog Odyssey III, The Oregon Scientific, just to name a few. I'd like us to be able to play some games on it and I'd like to stay in the $100 range. Do you know any good places to buy a good quality smart globe? Thanks for your input!

  2. Just buy one, a cheap one.wait... you want a smart globe?....Go to the toy store, they have a whold bunch of stuff like that

  3. I just bought the Leap Frog Explorer Globe for my homeschooled 5-year-old for Christmas (about $65 from Kohls.com the day before Thanksgiving). We love it. My husband and I even play with it a lot! The games are fun and educational for everyone from my daughter to adults. I think it's around $100 usually.

I read the Amazon.com reviews and they seemed to say that if you drop it, it can break and not be covered under warranty, so I just let everyone in the family know that we really need to be careful and we keep it up away from the toddler. I also read that the stylus can wear out, but they can be replaced.

  4. a flat one.... no ...dont    but i had to say it. sorry.

  5. There's a globe all of my blind friends seemed to have when they were kids. Geo-something or other. GeoSafari! That's it! It was smart, interactive, had TONS of information stored in it, and plenty of games. We'll be hanging out and they'll all be talking about how it was their favorite "toy" when they were kids, and I've heard so many good things about it. I wish I had one.

    GeoSafari Globe

  6. We have the LeapFrog Odyssey and LOVE it.  I was able to purchase it on clearance at Staples for $45.

Just do a Froogle search for the globe you want to find a place to purchase it.  I get a lot of HS materials from Christian Book Distributors and Rainbow Resource Center

LeapFrog frequently has online sales on their site.  They just ran a bunch of them before Christmas.  Join their email list and you'll receive notice of sales.

Discovery [Channel] Store  sometimes has great sales, too:

There are online education stores that are great, too:

Don't forget National Geographic, either.  If you join their EdNet program you can get special deals, like National Geo magazine for $12/yr.  They have a lot of great maps, etc.

I didn't search any of the sites except NG (they have two LeapFrog ones) for globes, but they'll get you started :-)
