What is a good guitar for a beginner?

I would like to have a guitar that will last me a few years (beginner through intermediate). Any suggestions on a good (somewhat inexpensive) guitar? I would also like a pink one, if possible OR a good brand name. Thanks!

Well i would say 90% of beginners start out with a fender squire. They are relatively inexpensive and work pretty well, but if you wanted a step up from that, I would look in to one of two things. 1) Danelectro just released a reissue of their 1959 model, it's about 250 - 300$, But a great guitar. it was used by people like jimmy page and eric clapton. 2) My other choice would be an epiphone les paul, Epiphone is owned by gibson and just makes guitars that look the same as gibsons but cost less. They are very appealing, but, a bit expensive and only ok in the way of electronics.

i assume u mean electric guitar.

My advice is to spend more $ on the amplifier then ur guitar.

Even a c**p guitar can sound alright in a good amp. but not the other way around.

The Top few brands - fender, ibanez, gibson.

fender and gibsons have cheaper versions which they brand them as squier(fender) and epiphone(gibson).

Fenders mostly only have single coils pickups. and gibsons mostly use humbuckers

I will suggest u to go for an ibanez that has H-S-H pickup setup to give u a broader range of tone. that means . humbucker-single coil-humbucker. so u get a chance to try everything. (single coil and humbuckers are different in size and also sound different)

why ibanez? Top brand,versatile, and in their lower priced guitars they usually use cheap stock electrical parts (pickups) to compensate for better wood and other parts of the guitar which u cant change. (eletric parts like pickup can be changed)

I have a Squier Bullet by Fender, it's a great guitar, but you'll want a better one as you get experience.
