  1. Depends on what you like.  I would say a .45.  Stops just about anyone in their tracks.  As to the brand that is all up to you.

  2. I think the 40 calibers are the best.  The Barretta border marshal is excellent and has very good safety features.  I'm not comfortable with the glock or sig sauer's lack of safety features though I do think the sig sauer 40 cal is one of the best guns made.  Stay away from HK.  They're great guns though they're built so precise you need to put a couple thousand rounds through them before they stop jamming on occasion.  Not a risk you want to take for a gun whose purpose is work instead of target practice.

  3. Glock 17

  4. The one you that allows the security officer to consistently hit his or her target.

It is personal preference, take your time and practice with several and see which you like the best.

  5. you can get some nice 40cal.

(used) lawinforcemental guns in the  gunshops cheap !

  6. a bazooka. =)

  7. your size doesn't matter, but a colt 45 double eagle special edition, is a totally sweet gun. glocks suck @$$!

  8. You can't go wrong with a 1911.  I prefer a Colt .45 ACP myself.  I used to be 6' 3" and 230lbs and I've always carried a Colt .45.  I now have two of them.  If you use Glaser Safety Slugs, they are awesome.  They penetrate then blow up.  It's the best round for the .45.  They are sold in packages of 6 for anywhere from $15 to $18 a package and you can get them from Delta Press or even Cheaper than Dirt.

Remember, a heaver pistol is better with the recoil than the plastic lighter weapons.  Their weight will reduce that recoil.  The so called "cops" on this question that didn't give you an answer aren't really cops.  I too was a security officer once but my carrying a gun got me promoted and before long I was a detective.

  9. Whatever you're comfortable with.

A note about slop, stoppages, malfunctions, and such: 90% of weapons issues are shooter error. Keep you weapon maintained, and learn to use it, and it won't fail. Unless you get a Jennings or other cheap piece of c**p. Personally, I prefer steel over alloy or (heaven forbid) "plastic" frames like the Glock and HK. Sure they're heavy. I like heavy. A fella told me once, "I carry a Sig 'cuz they can feed an empty case." Well, isn't that nice. But who the h**l wants to feed an empty case?

  10. Whatever you are comfortable enough to pass Qualls with.

  11. A Ruger SP-101 chambered in .357 magnum caliber.

  12. one that you'll carry and hit consistently with.  In as general terms as possible, a service/full-sized pistol in the caliber most comfortable for you to shoot (9mm, .40 cal, .45 cal are the most common choices in this range).

Your best bet to find one that's comfortable for you is to go to a range that lets you rent out guns and see which one you like.

  13. The best gun for ANYONE is the one THEY are comfortable USING.  I recommend visiting a range that allows you to RENT several guns and PRACTICING.  Then you will know the best answer for YOU.

You may well get several GOOD answers here, but NO ONE here can say what gun is best for you.

  14. Glock .40 caliber
