  1. There are way too many variables for a stranger to recommend a good health insurance company or a good plan to you on this website. As already mentioned, where you live is a big factor. Not all insurance companies write in all states, and the best plan for you where you currently live may not be the best plan if you move even to another zip code.

In fact, all the major health insurance companies are like automobile manufacturers. They both offer a variety of product, from the basic low end model all the way up to the model that's fully loaded with all the options. Also, any pre-exisiting conditions you may have and your height & weight be a factor.

You'll need to visit a local independent agent that works with all the major companies. The agent can find the best plan for your situation and budget and you won't pay any extra using an agent.

There are some companies that advertise policies for the self-employed but be aware they are just a basic hospital certificate, not major medical, with many restrictions.

  2. There are more questions you need to ask:

Where do you live, Where do you want to be covered, How much can you afford if you get hurt, How much can you afford monthly, will you pay it or will your 'business' pay it, do you need to cover more people than yourself, and probably some more that I haven't thought of.

It's worth it to find an experienced agent to help you answer the questions and make sure you're maximizing the use of your assets.
