Question:

What is a good home audio amplifier, not to expensive, that will support 4.1, 4.2, 5.1, or 5.2 speakers?

  1. I bought an Onkyo for $280 (speaker and everything) and it is AMAZING. Worth every cent, and then some. However that was a couple years ago and now the same one is about $300+. But it's still worth the money.


  2. The number after the decimal point is the LFE channel otherwise known as the subwoofer. Most home theater receivers only have 1 subwoofer output but you can use a Y-splitter cable to send the same signal to two powered subwoofers.

    Pretty much all receivers these days are 5.1 or 7.1 and some can do 4.1 where they matrix the center channel sound over the front speakers. Is this a requirement?

    You would really have to define what not too expensive is. $200? $400? $600? more, less?
