San Juan, the capitol of Puerto Rico, does have very nice beach-front hotels and as it matter of fact, many travel agencies book their customers around this particular region of the island, it has many historical sites to see, including old 1900's Spanish Fortress intact with cannons sticking out and even the massive balls they used for these can still be seen laying around near the cannons or in some museums built within these castles...It's very nice place for a vacation, beaches up there are prestine also.  However, if you are not that interested on historical sites and much more interested on beaches....Well...the best beach in Puerto Rico, barnone, is in Luquillo, is a town at the edges of Puerto Rico,  this beach is an absolute wonder up there, and yes, they do have beach-front hotels there too!

Any place in the" Condado" would be nice, also Ponce Hilton its beautiful also.

It really depends on what your lifestyle is and what you want to do on your honeymoon. My husband and I honeymooned at the Wyndham Rio Mar Beach Hotel in Rio Grande. It is absolutely beautiful. Right on the beach and across for the rainforest: El Yunque...good hiking and beautiful wildlife.  It is 15 minutes from Luquillo (check out the kiosks) and Fajardo (crystal blue beach) and a short ferry ride to Vieques (bioluminescent bay, snorkeling, etc). Its also close to San Juan in case you want to go shopping and dancing.

The hotel is secluded, so if you are looking for natural beauty, birds, lizards, etc this hotel is for you. First class service. We were upgraded to a beautiful suite on a top floor (just ask before you get there). Wow they hooked us up.

The beach is pretty much yours at night. My husband and I enjoyed the beach, watching the waves and staring at the stars by ourselves wrapped up in a blanket. So if romance is what you are looking for THIS IS IT!!!! You will not be disappointed.

San Juan is a good place too. I recommend the San Juan Hotel. But its the city, its loud, and not as beautiful as the grounds of Rio Mar.
