Usually a current issue among the students could be the best topic of all. then try to link it with the subject that day in such a way that students wouldn't feel jump over the fence.

Motivation is a compelling -and often contentious- topic that tends to have two major camps that favor one or the other, i) intrinsic, or ii) extrinsic motivation.  As such, you can consider your overarching theme to be something like, "Motivation: Nature or Nurture?"

One thing for sure, there is more than ample information (scholarly and otherwise) available for you to craft a great article about this topic.
