  1. Research a whole lot before getting a fish.. First research how to cycle a tank.. Then do some research on the fish that you want, so that they will live longer.

    Get a decent sized tank

    Cycle your tank.

    Dont over stock.

Tropical fish are good, since you dont want a large fish, dont get any goldfish.... What about some gourami? There are some beautiful ones, and you can get a few of them.. They dont get as huge as pond fish, and they are pretty easy to care for. They're one of the fish I've bought without losing any of them. Stay away from delicate fish. What about a couple of Pearl Gourami? Take a look on google, they're beautiful.

But I have to ask you this. Do you have enough time for keeping fish? It takes atleast a couple of hours a week.. You have to clean the tank, the gravel, water changes.. You have to monitor your fish as well, to check if everything is all good.

Happy fish keeping :) Once you've been bitten by the fishy bug, you will love fish keeping.

EDIT: Dont listen to Tom A. Betta fish do need a decent sized tank. A heater, and a filter.. they cant stay in dirty water, thats what makes them sick and kills them. Funny how people say their fish dont live that long..

  2. you could a betta fish they don't need much space like a fair sized fish bowl is good just don't put in more than one they can stay in dirty water but i know that's a bad idea just clean their bowl once or twice a week they have nice colors and only cost around $2

  3. why dont you get goldfishes

  4. golden trout (from the sierras)

  5. buy fish depending on your tank size. what size tank do you have and have you read up on the nitrogen cycle?

there's a lot more to fishkeeping than picking a fish you like and plonking it in some water and hoping for the best.

i suggest doing some research and then deciding what route you want to go down with regards to species.
