My laptop broke and my insurance plan has given me a $1000 credit to replace the laptop. If I spend less than $1000 I loose the money, so I would like to spend the full $1000. I am just unsure which one to buy. I have had so many problems with my last laptop (which was a hp) that I am weary of buying any new pc, but unfortunately I cannot put the credit towards a mac. Also, I must purchase the computer at Best Buy.

So, what is a great laptop that I can get that meet the above guidelines?

  1. go for a toshiba or an asus laptop

  2. I think Toshiba makes a solid laptop...but seriously...most laptops are all made be the same companies...just re-branded.

What you need to really think about is the processor, ram, video card, and harddrive...and what you plan to use the laptop for.

  3. depends what range your budget is usually good brands are acer, mac, and ibm.

  4. dell

  5. try to go for a DELL laptop, build quality is good, i'd recommend something with a Core 2 Duo, the new T8000 and 9000 series are the ones to look out for, as well i'd recommend 3GB or 4GB RAM which can be bought for not much more than 2GB RAM

    gd luck!

see below for a good offer you can pick up in store:

  6. since its within a maximum of $1000

i recommend SONY VAIO CR laptop

    its really great

Up to 320GB hard drive and 4GB RAM

    Starting at $869.99

    Hope this Helps~!

  7. I know this may sound bad, but I would go for one of the higher-end Toshiba laptops.  They are one of the best brands of laptops I've seen.  They also have a good price over performance ratio.

  8. Get a Dell (they are the best laptops).

Do not get an Acer or Toshiba because they are made of cheap parts and break fast.

Dell is the way to go.

  9. Go for a Dell.  I have the Inspiroon 1525 laptop and two desk tops.  They have been flawless for 10 yeas (the oldest one) and almost two years newest desktop and now my laptop has been flawless for 4 months.

Too bad you have to buy at Best But though.

  10. hi i think you should by a dell because it's less money and i have 211  dollars and i saw one at block buster  and ebay that  just cost 245 dollars is that good for you?e-mail me back please.

  11. Dude, get a Dell!

I'd say get an Apple, but since you have restrictions and can't do that I would certainly go with a Dell. According to Consumer Reports, they do very well.

You have to pay to see most pages on the Consumer Reports websitte, but here is a general link for info...
