  1. Okay. If you want to put a lot of extras on you are not looking for a hunting rifle. you want a tactical rifle that you can hunt with. I dont know what sort of price range you have but my suggestion to you would be the Armalite AR-10 or AR-15 series. They are available in many calibers including: .308, .338 Federal, .338 Lupua, and .300 Win Mag. You would want to go with .300 Win mag though. It has the easiest bullets to acquire, besides .308, but the .308 Im afraid is not necessarily made for shooting really long ranges. It has the ability to shoot long ranges (up to about 800 yds) but bullet drop on that round is not as easy to compensate for as is for a .300 Win Mag. The problem with .308 is that it is a short action cartridge. It does not have the powder behind it to propel it great distances with out dropping off. The .300 Win Mag is a long action cartridge and thus, has the powder behind it to make it a flatter shooting cartridge. Therefore it is easier to compensate for.

  2. for a first rifle, I suggest a Savage in 243

  3. The vast majority of Big Game is Harvested within 100 yards or less.* 6mm, 308, 30-06, 270, 280, 7mmwsm, 7mm Magnum, 25-06...* Pick one.*

  4. Dude you will not get a textbook, cut-n-dry answer to that question. You know what they say about opinions......

I have one too. I guarantee you that what you consider "long range" is not what I do. and opinions on the definition of "long range" is going to very as well. Do your research, You want a flat, fast bullet suitable for the game you are going to pursue. Typically, under most situations, that's going to be .243 or .270 scoped. For me it's a 7.62R scoped.  But you MUST stay within YOUR effective range no matter what the rifle or scopes effective range is. Then you must understand & be able to on-the-spot calculate ballistics, wind, angles etc.

  5. It depends on what you are hunting and what you consider long range.  If you are hunting large game, most of the .30 caliber cartridges will work. Buy the most expensive optics you can afford.  That is the most important part of a long range shooting rig.

You do need to practice a lot.  Long distance shooting is a precision art and you have to stay within your limitations.  The rifle is only as good as the shooter.  Plus, you owe it to the animals to make quick, clean kills no matter what the distance.

  6. super soaker x1800

  7. BB gun with 50000000000000000 FPS.

  8. a remington or a ruger in .308

  9. 270, 308, 243, 30-06. All effective at some pretty decent distance and not magnum rounds. I agree with all other posters that tell you practice, shoot within your limits, not the limits you hear or read about others doing. You have to be humane.

  10. 270 Caliber

  11. Hunting is not about "long distance" or "extras". You have your facts screwed up about hunting. Maybe you should try and find a more expereuiced hunter to teach you what's important.

If you don't have the skills to hunt at short distances without any "extras", you have no business hunting at all.

I'm not trying to insult you are be argumentative, I'm trying to give you some good advice. Hunting is not about the gun or the scope or the caliber, it's about skill and experience.
