The cheapest way I know of is to get the LG GGC-H20L DVD/Bluray/HD-DVD combo drive for your computer, less than $250.  You do need a computer that's capable of HD playback, which generally means a video card that has hardware acceleration for the HD video formats, like an Nvidia 8500 and up.

This also means you might be able to rip HD movies and save 'em on your hard drive, using a program like, say, DVD Fab HD Decrypter.
