Question:

What is a good meal plan for my 1 year old?

She is now on table food however we aren't on a schedule. I just feed her when she gets hungry. Is this what I should be doing? Also, what is a good meal plan for her. Thanks for any help!

  1. i feed my daughter when she gets hungry too her meals plan is

    breakfast-when she wakes up before she says she is hungry- breastfeeding (milk f you do not breastfeed) dry cereal and finger size fruit chunks.

    mid morning snack-nutrigrain bar (she loves these) cut into chunks and some juice 50/50 with water

    lunch- veggie-usually green beans or peas, i buy single serve size at walmart. cheese cut into 1/4" squares, meat, (usually either liverwurst or Vienna sausages cut in small half-moons or hard-boiled eggs cut in pieces) fruit pieces and a small cup of milk.

    mid afternoon snack (when i get home from work) crackers and peanut butter or just a fruit.

    Dinner- varies, she eats whatever my husband and i eat- if it's not kid-friendly i let her taste but also give her macaroni


  2. This is a start. And you will have to add as she gets better. Let her feed herself.

    Breakfast:

    white rice w/ sugar

    juice

    Lunch:

    pb on crackers

    milk

    Dinner:

    mac-n-cheese

    chicken

    Snacks:

    carrots

    cherrios

    cheese slices

    fruit

    It takes time but I don't give anything to drink until she tries something.

    I broke my daughter by withholding that old sippy cup. The more you do the more she will eat. Yes she will test you about the milk, be strong. You must win the battle.


  3. I would suggest breakfast, snack about 2-3 hours after that, lunch, nap following lunch (2 hours), snack when she wakes up, snack 2 hours later, dinner, then bed.

    For example:

    6:30am   wake up & breakfast

    9am       snack

    12pm     lunch

    12:30pm   nap

    2:30pm     snack

    4:30pm     snack

    6:30pm     dinner

    8:30pm     bedtime
