This weekend, I'm having a HUGE party for my 25th birthday. I know that I'm gonna get trashed, so can anyone tell me something good to eat prior to drinking that would help me avoid a hangover? Any pills I could take that actually work?

  1. my brother told me this long ago, in order to prevent hangovers or not drive the porcelain bus.

with every drink you have drink a little water or gatorade in between and this willl keep you buzz going longer than anyone. and thats what you want!

afterwards have a big chili cheese burger.... oh i am getting hungrey now,! thanks! and have fun!!!!!

  2. The hangover you get is a result of dehydration, not food.  If you have food in your system, it will stop the alcohol from being absorbed into your system as fast as if you hadn't eat anything.

To avoid the hangover, drink water in between drinks.  You need to keep yourself hydrated.  I don't recommend taking any pills mixing with alcohol.  That would be a good way to spend your 25th in the hospital.  I know people say they do it all the time, but if you haven't, you are liable to get a reaction you aren't wanting to have.

Happy 25th and be smart about the alcohol!!

  3. Well, it all depends on what and how much your gonna drink. If you eat a couple slices of pizza before you even start drinking, you won't get a good buzz until you hit 5 or 6 beers. It should level your buzz out. Try this:drink for an hour, have fun, eat something with a lot of fat and carbs, like pizza, and then continue drinking. I dont know though. Its hard to answer this. All I can say is, in the morning, if your hung over, eat something oily and fatty. It helps to coat your stomache. But eat a very little amount, slowly.

  4. I keep telling people this, and I PROMISE it works!  Yes - eat food, but the kind isn't that important.

To prevent a hangover: go to Target, WalMart, etc.  But Vitamin B1 tablets -- about 250mg.  Before starting to drink, take one B1 and two Tylenol.  Also, by your bed, set out a glass of water, two B1 pills, and four Tylenol.  This is so you don't forget later when hammered.  When it is time to go to bed, take one of the B1 pills and two of the Tylenols.  You should wake up with no headache at all, but if you REALLY overdo it, you may have one.  If you wake up with one, take the remaining B1 and Tylenol.  An hour later you will feel great -- like you never drank!

Please trust me on this one.  I have MANY years (30) of experience with this remedy and prevention method, and it never fails.  The reason is -- alcohol depletes your body of the major B vitamins.  B1 is stored in your brain, and helps to control the synapses.  When B1 is depleted because of alcohol, your brain is "screaming" for B1.  By giving it this extra B1, the brain is satisfied.

10 points, please, and trust this method!!!

  5. Whatever will taste good coming back up after you've had too much to drink.

  6. Eating will only allow you to drink more - as it will slow the absorbtion of alcohol into your body and even absorbe some of it itself. To not have the hangover, do what people say about drinking water. I don't go all out and drink a glass after each drink, but after a fair few, drink two glasses of water and continue.

This is key though: before passing out, force as much water as you can into your system. Gatorade or another type of drink is even better. You're drunk so you won't care and just make a weird game to keep drinking water. You'll thank yourself in the morning.

Also, sleep is very key as well.

So, that's that. I live by this and it doesn't matter what I eat prior to drinking. I just fill up on water and I'm gtg.

  7. just eat whatever food you have at the party

and chase each drink with a glass of water

if you can't drink that much water

then chase 2 drinks with a glass of water

you get hangover because you're dehydraded

    water will help you out

and buy some gatorade, drink 1 small bottle before going to bed

    trust me, it works

i only get hangover when i don't drink water

which is about 1 time a year, when i forgot to drink

  8. alot of liquids, the main reason you get a hang over is because the alcohol dehydrates you and your head doesnt have enough water, so drinking something like a gatorade after, or lots of water can help reduce or completely avoid a hang over, foods that can help are bread, crackers, or any big greasy meal like eggs and bacon works really good

  9. bread (soaks it up) before and after, loads of water and aspirin.

  10. Just make sure you eat well, and drink plenty of water. For every alco-drink you have, have a water after it.

Hangovers are the product of low blood sugar and dehydration due to the alcohol being flushed out of you by the pee, and the impairment of your body to process carbohydrates and insulin correctly.

So as long as you're well hydrated, and well fed, you'll survive.

  11. Keep drinking water while you are drinking alcohol. Also, eat a meal heavy in carbs - a big sub, some chips, etc. Make it a fairly big meal, but nothing greasy or questionable as far as flavors go. Good luck!

  12. raw almonds and potato chips when eaten before drinking, and apples, bananas, peanut butter, lemon (in coffee) and honey when consumed after drinking.

  13. PIzza before you drink but you will still get one

  14. Eating really healthy works miracles, but it's probably too late for that.  I recommend pizza the night before and drink a full glass of water before you go to bed.  You'll still have a hangover in the morning so drink a bloody mary and a beer.

  15. Drink lots of water before you go to bed and eat a greasy cheeseburgerr or enchiladas the next day :o)

  16. drink tons of water before you go to bed and you won't have a hangover, it works for me all the time.  just make sure you're not so wasted you'll pee your pants while past out!

  17. chasersAbout Chaser®

A recent survey shows that it takes an average of just 3.2 drinks to cause a hangover. For ten percent of people, all it takes is one or two. That's why there's Chaser. Chaser helps prevent headaches, nausea and other symptoms caused by alcoholic beverages.

Just take two Chaser caplets with your first drink and two more later. Chaser is made of specially processed calcium carbonate and charcoal. These ingredients attract and absorb hangover-causing toxins and then pass them out of your body – like a filter. In the morning you’ll wake up feeling great.

An IRB-approved clinical trial featuring randomization, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover group design showed statistically significant differences for 17 common hangover symptoms including headaches, nausea and fatigue. According to the trial’s executive summary, "The efficacy of the product ‘Chaser’ appears to be proven based on the clinical trial." At the conclusion of the test, 83 percent of the subjects said they would recommend Chaser.

Chaser is a safe alternative to over-the-counter pain relievers like aspirin and acetaminophen (Tylenol). Aspirin can cause stomach irritation or bleeding. Acetaminophen is toxic to the liver, especially when combined with alcohol.

    Directions

(Per drinking session): Take two caplets with your first drink. For best results, take two more caplets every two to three hours (or five to six drinks) thereafter. To prevent dehydration from alcohol drink plenty of water or sports drinks.

    Warning

Do not take more than 8 caplets in a 24-hour period or use the maximum dosage for more than one week except under the advice and supervision of a physician. Consult a physician if you are currently taking any medications. Not for use by minors. Chaser will not prevent intoxication and is not intended to treat or prevent the consequences of excessive alcohol consumption. Please drink responsibly and never drink and drive. Do not drink alcohol if you are pregnant or nursing. Consult a physician if you believe you may have a dependency on alcohol.
