  1. The world record for the 1500m is around 13:30, that is the metric mile.  A great time is around 16 minutes.  If you can swim a mile under 20 minutes you are better than most.

  2. A good time depends on the swimmer's age, gender, and how much they practice.

Surprisingly to some people, swimming and running mile times are very far off. Say a 'good' running mile time for a 15 year old girl is 7:30. A 'good' mile time in swimming for a 15 year old girl is around 20 minutes.

Times for miles range from around 17 minutes up to 25+ minutes. Again, it depends on the swimmer. Hope this helped.

  3. I think a good mile time for a swimmer would be somewhere around 8 minutes.

then again some people can run long distance faster than other. Im basing this time off of a friend who is a swimmer but also runs the mile.

  4. Missa's answer is closer to accurate. I just watched the Olympic women's triathlon and they completed the mile swim in about 20 minutes.
