I'm looking for some song ideas that aren't trite or cliche', like most of today's popular music. I'd like something smart, and maybe a little funny. Something unique. For the most part I like guitar driven alternative music, but I'm open to all genres. I was recently at a wedding where the father/daughter dance was Kermit the Frog's "Rainbow Connection." It was brilliant.

  3. My husband used "You Lift Me Up" by Josh Groban but if you like something a bit different try to think of something that means a lot to your Mom and you. My Brother in law used some song by Arlo Gurthrie (Spelling?) since he and his Mom used to listen to him all the time. Hope I helped...

  4. This is just a suggestion so do with it as you will , but I think the perfect song would be " waiting on a woman " then you could tell your mom that you were just waiting on a woman like her and watch the tears flow even if it is a line , which of course it won't be .

Like I said , it is just an idea . Good luck and God bless

  5. My Wish, Rascal Flatts

  6. Is there a song you and your mom used to sing or dance to together when you were a little boy?  That would be meaningful for the both of you to dance to.

I liked the suggestion for "Simple Man." You can use the original Skynrd version or the remake by Shinedown- it is a good "mama" song without being mushy or weepy.  And LOTS of guitar!

  7. My Wish - Rascal Flatts

You Raise Me Up - Josh Groban

  8. Well lol the first thing that poped into my head there is bob marley hehehe  its fun and a good wee beat in his music
