  1. a 2 stroke 85cc expert is a great bike that can really go. a ttr125 is a good bike too but might be a little too tall depending on his height.

  2. my son started when he was 8 but what ive learned through the years are as long as your kid can sit on the bike and hold it up by himself if that means only having one foot on the ground its perfect. if you get him a bike that is perfect size for him now, he will out grow it by the end of the year and you will have to pay another 4 thousand dollars on a bike.

also in my opinion the honda crf150r would be a much better bike, it is about the same size and is perfect for beginners. its manual and very reliable so you cant go wrong. from what ive seen all my kids friends that have gotten ttr's dont like them after a while because they just dont feel right. whats also great about the crf is that its a junior race bike so its great for your son to ride on and as he gets better he wont need a new bike.

so if your going to get him a dirtbike definetly get a honda whether its the crf80 or the crf150r you cant go wrong.

  3. YZ...KX...SX...w.e 85. Tell him, THERE FAST. It's not so much speed, but the fact that there light and can throw you around. Don't scare him of it, becuase then he won't want to ride it. Let him scare himself first. It's great it height, and it would last him. If not the 85, theres the CRF150r. It's more of a mx style bike, but that is what you want to get him. I was stuck on a xr100r while my friends had there 125's. I'd do all the jumps, and bottom out. Riding the smaller bike is more dangerous. The ttr's are trail bikes, I'd stay away from them. A good forum is www.thumpertalk.com   People stay active and give you great opinions. Good luck

  4. A Black & Orange one - x*x -

  5. A ttr125 isn't a motocross bike and a 125 is a little too powerul because when I started riding when I was 13 and actually rode one I was a little shocked and almost wrecked I size wise I would suggest an 85 my choice of brand would be a kx85 because of all the 85s its the most forgiving if height is not a big deal unless he's really short if he still wants a 125 tell him that comfort on the bike is more important

  6. If you are an Aussie and want a bike for motocross then the ttr125 is not an option as there is no class to race them in.  They are not designed to race.

Depending upon how big a 12 year old you have I would suggest you look at the crf150r as it is doing very well here in Australia.  Some of the Americans don't like the bike but here it is a very good option.  You probably wouldnt get much change from $6000 for one.  Other than that you can look at the 85cc class and any of the known brands would be fine.

If you are not intending to race then the ttr125 and the klx125 would be a good bike for trails.

  7. ttr125 is a good size. i got a crf150 when i was twelve.

  8. The TT-R isn't a motocross bike, it is a trail bike. If that is what you're looking for I think the Honda CRF-F line is a little better myself. If you are indeed looking for a motocross bike the Honda CRF150R would be an excellent choice. For a trail bike probably the CRF100F would be the best fit for him.
