Some like the Bontrager Ranger series.    The Shimano XT hubs with a decent hoop are OK.

I recommed going to your local bike shop with this build, Shimano XT hubs, 14 gauge spokes, Mavic rims and brass nipples, with a cross three lacing pattern.

Shimano makes the best hubs in the industry. They are relatively light weight, are rebuildable, and reliable.

The 14 gauge spokes are tough and reliable as well. Brass nipples are stronger than alloy, without being much heavier and are more durable than alloy nipples.

Mavic makes the best rim in the industry too. They are reliable, tough and light.

This wheelset should cost you about $250. If you want to go cheaper, go with Deore hubs and the price should drop to about $100-
