  1. Anything done by Warren Miller. Seriously, I don't even ski and his films are awesome.

  2. Matchstick Productions make great ski movies. Warren Miller does a great job as well. Two Plank Productions does a good job with skiing movies too. Some of these can be bought at Coloradofreeskier.com. Hope this helps.

  3. Better Off Dead with John Cusack.

  4. All of Warren Millers movies are good or better.  For a real head job try the old movie called "Ski Total"  if you can find a copy.  Some outstanding visuals of the downhill courses as they look from the racers' eye.

  5. There are "Ski Movies" and movies with skiing...IMO, these are two different horses all together.

Skiing movies..aka, Ski p**n...are films made expressly to show skiing and feature skiers. Warren Miller films are the best when it comes to this genre, Greg Stump's landmark "Blizzard of Aahhh's" and "P-Tex, Lies, & Duct Tape" are also excellent examples of this genre. I find I watch these movies once or twice and only pull them out when it comes time for drinking games...We have a bunch.."Drink when someone crashes.", "Drink when someone lands switch." "Drink when you see Glen Plake." etc. etc. Most of these films have no plot, little dialogue, and have narration. But that's the point...I'm not being critical.

Then you have films that feature skiing. "Hot Dog" was a comedy set around skiing. "Icebreaker" starring Sean Astin as a ski patroller was set at Killington (It was directed by the brother of a friend of mine.). Many James Bond 007 movies feature skiing. IMO, "For Your Eyes Only" had the best ski scene of any 007 movie, but "The World Is Not Enough" and "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" also had great ski scenes...and who can forget Sir Roger Moore "snowboarding" at the beginning of "A View To A Kill"?

Then there are the two greatest skiing movies of all time...again, in my humble opinion...."Dowhill Racer" starring Robert Redford and "Better Off Dead" starring John Cusack.

I watch both of these back-to-back sometime in late October to usher in the ski season...it's tradition.

  6. There are tons of ski documentaries that feature good music and great skiers showing their stuff.  If you want an actual "movie,"  there are a few good ones to check out.

Aspen Extreme is a great early 90's ski movie about two friends that move from Michigan to Aspen in hopes of becoming the best skiers on the mountain.  Its a good drama with lots of action and a good storyline.  Probably my favorite ski movie.

Ski Patrol is a hilarious comedy about a group of rag-tag ski patrollers that are faced with the task of saving the ski area from a large developer.

Ski School is pretty good too.  Dont remember much about it except for the nude scene (I was a 13 year old when it came out, lol.)  But it does have a decent storyline.

Dumb and Dumber features some ski scenes.

Another favorite to watch is more of a documentary, but the footage is awesome.  Its called "Someday somebody will ski that."  Its a story about Jackson Hole ski resort and its famed run "Corbets Coulair."  It is intense, mainly because if you have ever stood over the top of that run, you can really respect just how crazy these early ski pioneers really were.

Check these out, even if it is not what you are looking for, you will have a good time watching all of them!

And Tay Tay, Jamies cliff huck was actually 255 feet, not 240.

  7. Warren miller

    for sure

off the grid and playground were amazing!

  8. Anomaly is a sick ski video.  Features Jamie Pierre setting the world record cliff jump - 240 feet.

Under the Influence is pretty sick too.

All these movies are way good.
