have a look at free-codecs.com and download the k-lite mega codec pack. install that its free and you will be able to watch most file types without having to conmvert em.

a program called AVS video convertor, I use it to convert AVI to DVD but it does all file types MPEG to WMV, AVI to MPEG anything really
