I'm going to meet my friend in London on June 17 in Paris. I am from the US and we are going for the first time. We are late 30 something, early 40 something ladies looking to dance and have a good time mid-week in Paris. Where should we go? No g*y bars please, we like them but we see plenty of them in our home countries!!! We don't want to go to a teeny-20 somethings bar/club. Thanks.

  1. You might like the Caveau de la Huchette (http://www.caveaudelahuchette.fr/) in the 5th arrondissment.

Harry's American Bar is a classic hangout at 5 rue Danou. F. Scott Fitzgerald, Humphrey Bogart, Jack Dempsey and the king of them all, Papa Ernest Hemingway have all been known to sling a few back here. The place is steeped in history. The Bloody Mary drink was invented here (as well as the Sidecar and the White Lady), and George Gershwin wrote “An American in Paris” on the piano in the basement.

The Slow Club, depending on their program for the evening you go there might be good. (http://www.frommers.com/destinations/par...

And for an upscale evening the Club Lionel Hampton might be the best choice. (http://starwood.webcanada.com/restaurant...

My personal favorite is  Aux Trois Mailletz at 56 rue Galand in the 5th arrondissments. There is caberet and dancing in the basement night club and a piano bar on the ground floor. A wide variety of music is played ranging from opera to jazz to pop and rock and roll depending on who is playing. (When I'm in Paris I sing jazz at this club.)
