What is a good pair of shoes for running cross country?

I'm looking for a new pair of shoes for running 5k high school cross country.

Asics are really durable- they're great for all terrain and last for a lot of miles.  They're also comfortable, well-cushioned, and fit well to all different foot types.

New Balance is perfect if you have wider feet, but they don't tend to last quite as long.

Mizunos are quite similar to Asics & last just as long.

Brooks running shoes are da bomb. Almost every one on the team wheres them. If you are looking for something cheaper (brooks cost around $90) buy a respectable brand on sale because because bad quality usually results in injury(cheaper shoes wear out a lot faster, brooks last for  about 300 miles) . Lastly make sure the shoe fits and is comfortable.
