How about a cocktail party.

Ideas are

black and white - ask everyone to dress in black and white, formal, black and white cocktails, decoration etc

or an island paradise theme

hawaiin shirts

pina coladas

margaritas

if its a theme then you can decide what cocktails to serve and  then buying the alcohol etc can be within budget, rather than a

open bar..

Is this for a birthday?  Do people realy ahve these parties for things other than birthdays, especially fo no real reason at all?  (I dislike that idea)

It depends on how old you are and how much money you have!  We just gave a murder mystery party where everyone had roles and had to solve the murder.  It was really fun!
