  1. Rats are the best pets, it's too bad your dad doesn't like them.(why?) Choice no. 2 would be mice. They are the best second to rats.

  2. a chinchilla!!!

    theyre amazing!

  3. I love my guinea pig that is what I suggest you to get...sorry

  4. A Syrian hamster...

I'm getting one soon and am very excited!

  5. Rats are the way to go, mice are quite a bit more skittish and hamsters are kind of jerks. Find out what your dad hates, if it's the tails you can occasionally come across 'manx' rats.

  6. definitely a ferret. they are quiet and very lovable and easy to maintain. i infact had one that passed away recently and i'm planning to go get another one cause they are soo good as pets. so if you think you might like a ferret, then by all means that would be the best choice by far.

  7. my step daughter has a dawarf hamster. it is so cute and very playful. they only cost around 20 dollars and are very easy to take care of.

  8. Rats were my automatic first choice when I saw this question; I have two, and they are the most social, gentle, clean, and loving creatures. Since they're out of the question, however, I would recommend chinchillas. If raised correctly, they can be very affectionate and friendly. I've had good experiences with hampsters, although they're not what I'd call "mellow;" they're pretty high energy.

No matter what you decide on, make sure you read up on the animal beforehand and ask lots of questions at the petstore. A little bit of studying goes a long way when it comes to forming a relationship with your pet and keeping them happy.

  9. snake?

  10. teddy bear hamsters. SO CUTE!!!! They're a little big so you can always see where they are and they never bite. i had one but he died a while ago :(

if I could get another one I would get a teddy bear hamster.

  11. chinchilla, but they have short life spans.. so a hampster would be better for you.

  12. If its legal in your state, get a Ferrett.

  13. i think you should get a hamster. i have one and i love him so much ! they are petit and easy to take care of. they don't bite; unlike chinchillas/

    hope this helps =D

  14. Well, purr-sonally, I like mice.

  15. a teddybear hampster they are really good they are  more friendly

  16. why a rodent at all?

    what is a chinchilla?

    i dont know..get a dog instead...........

  17. Chinchillas have a lifespan of 10-15 years, which I consider pretty long! They can be a bit jumpy, but once you get them used to you they are soft, VERY curious, and fun to be around. I work in a pet store and the chinchillas are one of my favorites (after rats. ;P ). You just have to make SURE that you'll be able to care for it, since it does have a long lifespan. Where will you be in 10-15 years? You don't want to have to put a chin up for adoption. If you think you may have to do that, a mouse might be a better option. I think they're sweeter than hamsters, and they're not the smartest rodent, but they're no dummies. I prefer them to hamsters, if you get them young they're dolls.

The one hamster I'd tell you to stay away from, if you're getting them from a pet store, is dwarf hamsters. When they're not socialized a lot, they get pretty unfriendly!

A ferret could also be fun, they need quite a large cage though, like chinchillas. I've also heard they have quite a musky smell. But they're smart and quite personable.

  18. Too bad rats are out of the question. They are by far the sweetest and smartest of the rodent's I have worked with. They are also the only "rodent" that never bit my in my 5 years working at a pet store. Hamsters bit me ALL the time.... most of them were mean... and kinda dumb (i know some are great - im just speaking for the majority i dealt with). I owned two chinchillas. They are fun, but expensive. I would not recommend a pet store for a chinchilla because most pet stores dont handle them and they get mean, or just don't want to be picked up. I've been bit by them as well. See if you can find a breeder if you choose a chinchilla. If you're in an area where you can get a ferret - those are the best! Very smart and fun personalities. Very friendly when you get them young. Mice don't seem to develop a bond - not super intelligent in my opinion - some bite, but not as much as hamsters.

  19. well...this isn't gonna sound like a good idea but a pet skunk, with it's stinker removed of course, act exactly like cats!! But I think they are rodents!!!

  20. After rats, it's ferrets all the way!

  21. The Chihuahua

  22. i really like raccons, you can find raccoon breeders in some places and they're absoloutly adorable and really smart. Also if you could raise a baby squirrel it really fun i have one and it lives outside in my yard now, but you can actually call it and it will sit on my shoulder, they're really quite friendly if you raise them and handle them as babies! no joke! but those are hard to get since they're wild animals, if you want something from a pet store, i would get a ferret, they're really cool and they play like puppies, they're also quite smart.
