  1. Now I know little about the pearl, but I am the owner of a Jupiter Picc and it was the best investment ever! It is reliable and I can play it confidently, I would go to a flute shop and try them all out. Never buy a flute or piccolo over the internet, you have got to try what is right for you.

  2. By all means, get an all-composition piccolo.  Metal is *nasty*, and all-wood will not survive temperature fluctuations outdoors - and they are expensive, too.  Grenaditte is a very stable material, and Pearl is a great brand - you cannot go wrong there.  Also explore Yamaha, and the Jupiter.  Look over those seen on www.fluteworld.com or JL Smith - a all-flute house, rather than a big-box band instrument store. If THEY carry an instrument, it is good.
