that sounds a bit of a waste of money ... paying for a hotel to get a bit of peace and quiet when you've got a perfectly good house to live in

the traditional answer to this problem was a shed at the bottom of the garden, or a garage ... then dad (it's usually dad's but I guess it could be a mom as well) develops a hobby (gardening, car mechanics, building model boats, painting, writing his memoirs, whatever) and retreats for hours on end to the shed or garage, locking the door from the inside and demanding no interruptions so that he can concentrate on his "hobby" ... whether you actually do a hobby or not is up to you (just remember to keep the shed locked at all times so you don't get rumbled) ... in actual fact many garden sheds contained a nice easy chair and some rugs, piles of books and whatever else you really want to do ... experts at this exercise even run an electric cable from the house to the shed so that they can have light, heat, TV, kettle, and all mod cons
