  1. heartland brewery?

  2. I would rule out some previous suggestions (sorry) like Heartland Brewery, Mars 2112 and Jekyll and Hyde are not in the area but never go there the food is horrible.  Spice is fun, but I thought the food  was just so so.  It may have changed though, I haven't been there in years.  Blue Water Grille is way expensive for a first date.  Republic is so so food wise but the atmosphere is nice.  Coffee shop is really cool, but I think it's better for lunch, because of the outside dining (better in day light).  There's a really reasonable place called Cafetasia on 8th St.  They have fun drinks, really good food for the price.  Boqueria is a fun tapas bar, lots of sharing..that's on 19th St.

  3. Angel's Share

    8 Stuyvesant St

Angel's Share is a fantastic, s**y cocktail lounge about six blocks from Union Square.  To gain entrance, you have to walk through an unmarked door in a japanese restaurant.  The inside of the bar is s**y and romantic, but not too pretentious.  Perfect for sitting down and having a quiet conversation - getting to know your new squeeze.

Trust me, she will be VERY impressed that you knew where this little hidden bar is.

Cocktails are around 12-15 bucks a piece, but very potent.

You may want to find something a little more laid back than this for the first date, and save this for the closer ;)  Trust me

    Good luck!

  4. Well there are lots of great places.. Jekyll and Hydes is super fun. As is Mars 2112.

  5. ze clube of de strip oui oui

    its french

  6. Blue Water Grill

  7. In that neighborhood at night, bad things happen. (believe it)

  8. Here are some suggestions in the Union Square area:

    - Spice - 60 University Place @ 10th St.  Good Thai food, very popular with the younger folks, hip and has a friendly atmosphere

    - Republic - 37 Union Sq W btwn 16th & 17th St. - Noodles.  Great food, very popular, a bit noisy, but comfortable

    - Heartland Brewery - next to Republic

    - Coffee Shop - Food is decent but the atmosphere is nice, light and informal; good for chatting and getting to know each other

    Good luck and have fun.

  9. Luna Park! It's in the center of the park and it's moderately priced. Le Express is also a wonderful place for a date. It's a little bit more expensive, but very romantic. That's a bit up on union square, on 19th st. i believe.

There's a bunch of websites on this excel spreadsheet on

    www.savory-bites.com/blog

if you want to compare the union square restaurants. its on the top right hand corner and you can open the file on excel.

  10. Blue Water Grill  is good and I dont know about bad things happening. Thats nonsense. That area is filled with tourists so thats not true. Also, if you want to go Thai, theres an AMAZING Thai Spot called Spice on 10th and University, its funky , the drinks are good, the food is cheap and you will definitely impress her.
