What is a good plant (preferably bush) that I can plant in Southern California??

there's a 1.5' by 8' area that i need to plant. What type of small bush could i plant?

  3. Euonymus japonica varieties (tougher than burning bush varieties), Raphiolepis indica especially 'spingtime' or 'snow maiden' (small varieties), Diosma, buxus varieties, Abelias.

    I grow all these well in a hot dry australian climate.
