  1. It is good to have posted lesson plans and a posted classroom schedule.  You should be able to go observe for awhile.  Talk to the teacher your child will have.  Does she have a degree and in what?  She should also have experience with that age group and her room should look interesting, stimulating and inviting.

    Other issues:

    1.  Presentation of the School (neat?, staff / info board)

    2.  Scores on recent state inspections.

    3.  Extra events (i.e. grandparents day, parties)

    4.  Extra curriculars offered (music or dance lessons)

    5.  Field trips

    6.  Newsletters / Report cards

    7.  Parent counsel

Find out what the school's policies are on meals, if your child gets sick, naps, open hours etc...There is a lot to think about!!  The school with the best overall elements, proximity and the best feeling is the right one for you.

  2. i recommend stratford. it's private, but worth it. they teach you more than they would at some local organization. they don't actually spend the whole day watching the kids play and then telling you it's good for the kids like some other places. they actually teach you.

i may sound a little biased about the kids playing part, i'm sort of just exaggerating.

  3. Before you choose a preschool to take your daughters to, you need to go through a check list of places you are concidering.

    1) Is it licensed? if no, then not the place for anyone!

    2) Location convenient to you?

    3) Are there waiting lists in any of the classes? If so, get on it, waiting lists mean it's a good class because everyone wants it. If you get on a waiting list then who knows, you may get in with in weeks.

    4) Are meals provided for your children? makes it easier for u

    5) Do they offer a trial day? Its good to "test the waters" if you will, some offer a free day to see what its like.

    6) How long have the teachers been there for?

    7) What is a day like for children in the class you are looking at?

    8) How do they handle children with allergens? sub food, no outside food (unless approved), etc.

    9) What do you hear when you enter the classroom? teachers yelling, kids crying, laughter, positvie comments, etc. You decide what you like, although i'd choose the last two over the first to any day.

    10) Do they provide transportation to and from public schools? If so, are their seat belts in their vehicles even buses?

    11) Does the overall environment feel good to you?

    12) What does your child think of it?

    13) TRUST YOUR GUT.

On that note...I can recommend this website to you becasue it is was super easy to use

  4. Do they have a waiting list? The best school have one a mile long.
