Question:

What is a good present for an elderly couple?

My parents are getting on a bit. Next year they will be 40 and they are planning to have a bit of a celebration party, or whatever kind of affair they can manage at their age. There is plenty of time to go, but I was thinking what to get them for a present. They are both quite sharp for their age, not doddery or feeble minded like many old people, and they even do some light exercise, so there is a bit of life in them yet.

I can’t think what old people would want as a present. The only thing I can think of is a grave plot at the local cemetery. They’re not quite ready for it yet but it’s best to plan in advance. Any other ideas?

40 is not old they are not eldery hun at all

my parents are 54 and my bf is 36 if i mentioned  a grave plot to my nan who is 72 she would be mortified.

give them the money because i think your going to offend then otherwise

wow im a nurse and im looking after  a lady who is a 100. im gob smacked

  2. i'm one of the suckers who actually read that stuff, so, how did u get 58%best answers?

ps whilst i was there i answered ur other q's since i can't think of anything to add to the above.

  3. You can give a gift card from the mall so they can go to any store to use it.

  4. Very funny!

  5. I don't know if you could afford a plot at the cemetery on your meager allowance.  Maybe you could hire yourself a babysitter and let them enjoy a night away from home knowing that someone would be there to watch you.  Better start saving now!

  6. Some of us do read profiles pet so you ought to delete it pronto. Your questions are a pack of lies as you say. This is quite obvious.  What a liberty.  Merry Christmas and behave you little horror.  I have an idea   on second thoughts no I haven`t.not chatting just helping out a young person.

Having said that you are funny but naughty. bless your cotton socks

  7. HAHAHA you must mean they've been married 40 years, right?

A health club membership would be a great gift, or fruit-of-the-month club.

  8. Certainly you are joking, 40 years old is still young.  40 is not considered elderly.  My mom is in her sixties, my dad is 73, they still work, drive cars, and do what ever they want to do.  You must have meant to say they have been married 40 years.

I would get them a gift card, dinner for two at their favorite restaurant.

  9. 40 and still ambulatory?  My!

Send them on a nice vacation--if they raised you, they deserve one.

Maybe if the vacation's good enough, they won't rewrite their wills. . .

  10. Holy c**p! I'm 36, single, and look 27. I will be 40 in four years and am appalled that you would consider 40 elderly...therefore I do not have an answer for the question....grrr...

  11. How about cleaning your room with out being told. Putting your washing in the laundry basket before your mum yells at you, wash the family car etc:-

  12. I am sure they would enjoy a nice indoor plant. Perhaps you could take them on an outing to somewhere they wold enjoy, according to their interests.

  13. They are going to be 40? I think they can probably manage anything you can!!

  14. I think you're being very sensible here. People take so much for granted nowadays, without planning for the future. Perhaps you could contribute to their coffin, or a large ream of flowers for their decease.

  15. Dinner at a very nice restaurant.

  16. You are priceless thinking 40 is old........LOL.

Get them a nice gift certificate at their favorite restaurant.

  17. umm, there 40, my mom is 43 and still works, and my dad is 44, he owns his own business, so when you say elderly, you have the wrong defintion, you need to look this up, my math teacher is 43, so seriously, a grave plot in the cemetary? thats a realy presetn, make them a dinner, bath stuff, or a hotel trip, or alchohal

  18. The idea of giving them a grave plot at the local cemetery is really a very macabre one,  they will dislike as it is an irreverent allusion to their death. Instead of this gloomy gift it would be much better to give them a tickel for a trip to Mallorca, Italy.or Greece.

  19. Whoa as if you think 40 is old!

    That's so young these days!

How about getting them a really nice vase and some flowers? Mainly for your mum, and a nice bottle of whatever your dads favorite drink is?

  20. I would get them a certificate for a Bed and Breakfast get away.

  21. Get them a new kid - I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

BTW, I'm one of the "suckers" who actually did read your profile.  At least you're honest.

I like answering people like you; you're so full of material to work with.  Keep up the good work.

  22. Pay them the money you probably owe them from your childhood. Let them enjoy life. Send them on a cruise. Gift cards. Give them grandchildren, but take care of them yourself.

And, in a couple years you will realize that they are NOT old. Maybe you should give them a break!

  23. lol 40 is not an elderely couple.. my dad is goin on 55 and hes barely graying, and suprisingly is almost as fit as I am.

something personal would be nice, a picture or an album that they like, if you seriously cant think of anything you can probably find something interesting in bed bath and beyond.. a bed massager or something

  24. Since when is being 40 old?

Anyway, I'd get a nice picture frame and put a picture of the family in it.

Or maybe just a picture of the two of them.

  25. 40 isnt an old person!

is this question supposed to be a joke?

get them a giftcard to a restaurant or something

  26. dang 40 isnt old at all hahahahha send them on a cruise. thats always nice.

  27. Ha Ha ha ha ,Hope your parents dont find out you posted this in the senior column this is a joke right ,I dident think it was until I read the grave Plot ,very funny

  28. Jesus H Christ - I'm 51 and not doddery either !!!!

Get them a couple of wheelchairs and colostomy bags I suppose.....and a couple of bibs to dribble down.

  29. Maybe you could get them a pretty vase for their ashes or dedicate a bench to them in their local park.....lol

  30. Mister they can do any thing you can do, in spades.
