I am looking to purchase a 2000 Toyota Camry LE with 69,000 miles from a dealer. The vehicle is automatic, 4-cyl, 1 previous owner, AC, power steering, power windows/doors, Cruise control, AM/FM stereo, Cassette, Single CD, Dual front air bags, power seats, and a sun roof.

The dealership is selling the vehicle for $10,500. When I inquired about the vehicle the dealer said the lowest price he could sell me the car was $9,800. However the Kelly Blue Book value is $9,055, and the NADA value is $8,975. Where should I start negotiating the price, and how much should expect to pay for this vehicle? Or what is the most I should offer to pay for it?

  1. Remember that the dealer is going to try to get every dollar that the car will bring that is his job but I am in the car business and I would tell him that your very top offer is $8500. I will give you a hint about how to do that.

When you talk to him say I will give you $8500 then say nothing. I don't care what you do but say NOTHING, the very next person that speaks is going to buy the car, you speak first you will pay his price, he speaks first he will meet your price. If he says we can't do that say nothing just get up and walk out don't stop just keep walking he will chase you down and if he doesn't he will call by the way there are more and even better cars for the price that he is asking check out some of the other places that sell used cars in the area. Never get so sold on a car that another couldn't fill the bill just as well. I would like to point out that both the KBB and NADA both are within $80.00 of one another and they get their figures from all over the United States. Don't give this dealer an extra $800 of your money You work hard for $800
