What is a good price for a transmission?

i have a 1986 gmc suburban, and i need a 700 r4 transmission. im getting so many diffrent prices for it, im going crazy. so what is a good price for a used or rebuild?

used 1 goes aywhere from $500-1500 this will depend on the miles

new $900-2500, now make sure u get a warranty.

Just keep calling . the ones that give really high prices are hoping they found a sucker..and very important ..buy the trans from the same out fit that installs it.this way if it does not work properly it is their responsibility..If you provide the tranny and someone else installs it and then it dosent work . they will not fix it.  as for rebuilt or used depends on how long you want keep fuel hog.. rebuiltt more.  if  you buy used ,find a junk yard that will also install it. or a mechanic that buys the used trans and install it.--I would go with the used myself.  keep calling. and of course get a 30 daywarranty
