Just leave him alone.  Why create drama.  He's just doing it to get under your skin, so don't let him.  People like him go away and bother someone else if they can't get a rise out of you.

If your girlfriend is worth ANYTHING, she won't be talking to him either.  SHE ALSO needs to not add fire to his flame.

I think you should shun him. That's what the Amish do when someone betrays a trust. It's much more effective than giving him some lame quote. Also, your girlfriend seems to be enjoying the attention she receiving from telling you what your ex-friend did. The real story here is about your girlfriend's need for drama.
