  1. Find a used bike on Ebay or Yahoo. I am considering buying a $4000 bike and my old $1800 bike might fetch a grand. Don't ask me about my bike as I am only thinking about upgrading. However, there are good deals on these websites. Good Luck !!!

  2. tell me the most u r willing 2 pay, and what do u mean by racing? a road bike, or like a mountain bike?

  3. Define "racing bike".

    BMX

    Road

    Cross

    MTB

    Track...

  4. What kind of racing? If you're looking for a road or tri bike, I would recommend a Cervelo Soloist Team or Cervelo Dual, respectively. The Soloist isn't going to be the stiffest race bike you can find, but at $16-1700 you're going to get a very high quality aero aluminum frame with an awesome component set. With the Dual, you're looking at a bike age-groupers and elite riders routinely win with, at an entry level price of $10-1200. Good luck finding either one though, 2007 was the last year for the Dual so if you find a new one it might be marked down below $1000 now, but you've gotta find one first. My understanding with the soloists is that the 2008's pre-orders soldout around the beginning of february (tell's you what a deal they are).

EDIT- I hate to break it to you, but for the racing portion of the cycling world expensive starts at $2000. This doesn't mean you can't get a good road bike, especially used, for $550. Go to your local bike shop and see what they can do for you.

  5. define too expensive.
