Say the babysitter is 11, and she has taken all the courses. What would be a good hourly rate? What would be good for a 12, or 13 year old, too? (Same courses.)

  1. I think that no matter how old the person is they should get the same flat rate! Why belittle an 11 year old who is doing the same job a 13 year old would do? Don't let age be a determining factor. If you come home to find that the sitter is a little slack then maybe take the pay down a few dollars, you can have a 20 year old that is more slack than a 11 year old.

However, I don't believe I would ever leave my child(ren) with an 11 year old--unless it was for 2 or 3 hours max and then I would put a flat rate of 20 dollars.

I have baby sat for many years and am currently a nanny. I get 50 dollars for a full 8 hour day for two kids equaling 150 at the end of my three day week. However, I am about to start a new job for the school year and I will be getting 7 dollars an hour and a minimum of 20 hours a week.

    Good luck.

EDIT: Anyway you look at it, they are in charge and caring for your children. You want your babysitter to want to be there. Paying good can insure good quality care.

Say you are 35 and you work at a bank. You get 11.33 an hour and your partner who is 45 gets 15.00 an hour. How would you feel? You both have the same training and your care tends to be more delicate and precise. How do you feel?

  2. i would not leave a child alone with an 11 yr old even if they had done couses because an 11 yr old and a 12 and 13 yr old are just not mature enough

  3. for teenagers or youngers, like half a day or all day would be $50, its nice that they took classes and know what to do, that's why they can become a babysitter and get paid :-)

  4. I say anywhere from 5-7 dollars an hour at 11 but as they get older(12, 13, ect.) you might want to start raising the price to anywhere between 7-10 dollars an hour.  As babysitters get older they have more things to do so if you really want them to babysit you need to start raising the price.  When the babysitters younger they just want to do it for fun and experience so its ok to start at about 5 dollars an hour.

  5. $10 an hour for one child but if there is more children i would probably say $15 per hour
