i was watching my husbands grandfather and his wife over night on Sunday nights, now his grandfather passed away and now it is just his wife.. we were getting paid 9$ an hour, for 13 hours which came out to be like $115 or around there for one night. Now they are telling me I am going to get a flat rate which is $70 a night.. which isn't even minimum wage, that's like 5 something an hour.. minimum is 7.95$ an hour.. so that means I am going to be changing wet pee diapers and dirty pop diapers from a 70 year old lady for 5 an hour? I also have to take blood sugar, give meds ect. is that comparable to what others are getting?? should I ask for more, or just tell them to find someone else.

also, I am having to take my daughter over there at night and sleep there too because my husband works at night. so my daughter doesn't fall asleep there very easily and is fighting going to sleep there.. (she is 8 months)

  1. I think, from experience 13 X 10, but maybe you could settle back for the $115, although 13 X 9 is still $117.

I did this job 15 year's ago for 8 - 9 dollars per hour for private people.

Same thing for the gov't and it was more than double, for sure.

We must have compassion, but be compensated.

Ask for more, and also find someone else = both.

See how that works, bless y'all.

  2. OMg, my mom gets paid nearly $20 an hour...This is live in for four days thou, but it all works out, she makes $2000+ every two weeks...But you should be paid at least $13-14 an hour...There are expenses to travel there, stay up the night, check on the old lady, and keep her meds etc right etc....Its alot of work for barely $5 an hour...Dump the job!! Its not worth it...There are people willing to pay WAY more than that with LESS work...Mom gets heaps of offers, so i know...

  3. aroudn where i'm from daycare is $2 an hour for overnight stay.

  4. she's family for God's sake.............

$70.00 is very fair,  working overnight the majority of the time there is NO work just sitting.

  5. s***w that! My wife runs a day care in our home and she charges 70 dollars for a baby to sleep here. If you have to clean up some 70 year old person every night I would charge 20 dollars an hour. Thats minimum for a Nurse.
