I'm 19 and I'm starting to take more responsibility for my car. I want to learn more about how to take care of it, what to look for, that sort of thing. Right now I'm searching for a new rim and I want to learn a little more so I can answer questions about my car more easily. Can someone recommend a good book or website that gives girls or young women information about their cars and how to take care of them?

I'm trying to learn things such as what to look for in the engine, how to check my tires, checking fluids, that sort of thing. And if it helps anyone, I own a 2002 Dodge Neon. Thank you!

  1. Yep, from AAA no less!

    http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/pod...

  2. the best place to find more is atechv school and they offer popwder puff courses in auto mechanics you can not learn about this in a book its hands on experience that you need

  3. if you,ll read in the owners manual of your car it will teach you a lot about car maintenance and how to do it as well as when to do it,that's one of the best books you can ever read on a car,its better than any course you could take to learn on this subject, good luck

  4. better to just learn from someone, like an older brother or BF, or you can ask us, we'll help you become a gearhead

  5. Autozone has tips and articles on their site.  ALLDATA has some info as well which links to autozone.  guess who owns both....

also, you can get advice here on answers, and another good site is www.2carpros.com  and the ASE site has downloadable training and testing if you want to go that far down the rabbit hole

  6. Honestly, make it a habbit of checking under the hood, once a week. the thing about it is actually doing it on a regular basis. In time when something needs attention you will notice it. You gotta see for yourself what a car looks like with a fresh oil change vs. a car with low, dirty oil. Your car dosent take much to maintain.

  7. Listen this helped me pass my first ASE test. Buy a Haynes Manual for your car. You can buy them at an autozone or any part store. this manual will give you step by step and great pictures to do anything for your perticular car. Im talkin this thing will show you step by step how to change brakes, oil even your engine and transmission and the book costs like 20 bucks. I actually buy one for every car i own.
