I went the golf course for the first time. It had 1 par 5, 2 par 3's, and 6 par 4's. On that course I got an 80. How good is that for your first time?

  1. To answer your question directly, if you are a beginner, A GOOD round of golf score is around 40 over par. That's on a Par 72 course (18 holes).

However, many golfers start at the range, and then go on to the course, that's why it's around 40 over par.

Golf is the one of the very few sports that has a separate practice facility (the range). All golfers should take full advantage of that.

  2. You can't really answer that question for your VERY FIRST round.  That said, an 80 sucks pretty bad.

  3. its not great if you only played 9 holes because the par is 35

  4. That's pretty bad.  80 means 160 on a full course.  Really you should learn on the driving range first before trying to play.

  5. i coach middle school golf and if my player got a 80 for thy first time i was happy you will get better i had a player shot 91 at the beginning of the years and by the end of the season he shot a 45 just hang in there

  6. it's really not that great but if it's your first time then i guess i cant blame you

  7. Its your first round so it doesnt matter how bad it is but if you improve over the year there is a bigger sense of accomplishment
