I have AT&T Yahoo DSL. I only have a modem that plugs into my desktop computer but I want to add a router so that I can connect wirelessly with a laptop. But I need to keep my desktop plugged up to the modem. Can I do this? What is a good inexpensive router to purchase that will work good with this service? Are they hard to set up? Thanks

  1. Get the router ATT sells it is manufactured by 2 wire.  I believe they call it a wireless residential gateway.  It is a combo DSL modem, router and wireless access point.  It works great and their Tech people can support it.

  2. it really depends on what you planning on doing. are you planning on hooking up multiple laptops with wireless (wi-fi) is is everything going to be cabled? how is the dsl currently hooked up? i believe most dsl now is running through a dsl box wich then you connect to it through a cable. i believe that they usualy ship with two wire on them. as already been stated, might as well get the wireless two wire from them that they sell. they support it. or if you plan on using gigabit cards and 300 draft N wireless you might want to invest into a d-link or netgear router that support 300 draft N speeds and giga bit. then it still depends on how your dsl is setup on which one to use. i suggest d-link Draft N router.

after reviewsing the question a little more.

it still depends on what wireless card you are using,

best answer is to get the two wire option because att will support it.

you can also buy d-link wireless G routers fairly cheap. that is the router brand i perfer over netgear or linksys

  3. Lol AT&T Yahoo DSL.  Get Comcast high speed internet it's way faster.  Just like they say in those dumb commercials.

  4. Any of the Netgear Wireless Routers.

  5. 2Wire is absolutely the BEST! I have had 3 of them and the only reason I went through so many was because I upgraded. They get better and they rock!

  6. I like the Linksys WRTG54, Really any should work, but if it's a combo DSL/router box it can be a little bit of a pain to setup.
