  1. when you run, listen to music or have somwehing with you to entertain yourself. if you just run plainly without anything, you with eventually start to slow down and get a feeling of stopping, hwne that happens to me, i sprint for like 10 seconds, and then jog again. that way, it gets me refueled and ready to keep going.

  3. *When I first started I ran super, super slow (like i could walk faster) but never let myself walk.  And I only went for a short period of time (10-20 minutes at first).   Eventually, I just naturally went faster, and when I couldn't run, my body just really wanted to run.  I get these urges to go out and get my heart pumping and fill my lungs with air.  

    *Get a heart rate monitor.  It's a belt you where around under the bottom strap of your sports bra and a watch that records your heart beats per minute, and the time you run.  It will help you see your progess, and help you train.

    *If long distances are too painful at first, you can get the same results by running a short time really fast in intervals.  You run as hard as you can until you are at your maximum heart rate and stay there for about 10 seconds.  Your maximum heart rate is about 200 minus your age.  Do this 10-15 times.  I don't like it.  Maximum heart rate = barf zone, but it will give the same heart strengthening/cardio results in a short time period.

    *Use your running time to think about things in your life.  I found I think a lot better when I'm moving, (maybe my brain is getting more blood?) and so running helps me really think through tough problems, or just to be creative with school, work or projects.  Some people come up with thier best ideas in the shower, I come up with mine running.  

    *Daydream while you run about being a strong, lean athlete or general badass.  You are Lara Croft. You kick ***. Sounds cheesy as h**l, but it works and it's really fun and silly.    

    * If you don't like to reflect or daydream while you run, a good trick is put great music  on your ipod.  Make a high energy mix of songs you love and only let yourself listen to them when you are running.  (some mix ideas linked below)  I have some mixes with songs I would want to hear so badly, I'd go running just to hear the song!  

    * I've never had a running buddy,  but I've heard it's one of the BEST ways to stick with it...when you want to slack, you won't because you'll let your buddy down.  Or if you really want to slack, your buddy will kick your butt into gear.  

    *There are also running clubs in cities a lot to train for marathons or 5ks.  Sometimes if you have a goal, you are less likely to quit because you have an accomplishment you can focus on achieving.  Then someday, you can say, "Look at my medal!  I ran a MARATHON."

    Hope this helps!  Use the whole bag of tricks and stick with it, it's SUCH a great way to get healthy and lose weight.  

    P.S.-- Be sure to do quad. strengthening exercises when you run to protect your knees!   It's really important!

  4. I remember when i first started doing track, i could never get through a practice without walking. What i do now, is focus on when i'm done. Like, would i rather say, i finished this up without walking/stopping, and i'll probably be that much better, or i almost made it, but i was 5 meters away from the finish line and quit on myself. This works most of the time.

    AND arm movement (Up and down)

    Arms give you a good thrust and a bit more distance, especially on hills...

    Also good eating helps give you more energy...

  6. run distances. Run  longer and longer distances as u progress in ur workout. Work out your legs and thigs, and abs to strnghten ur muscles. These tips will help greatly

  7. You have to start w/a good running shoe & stretching.

    Running longer distance @ a slower pace is best!
